Developing partnerships with vision professionals across the world

The Essilor foundation, whose motto is “see well to enjoy life", includes ophthalmologists and other vision professionals dedicated to improving the screening of visual disorders among children and promoting vision correction for the disadvantaged.

Numerous partnerships have been established across the world with vision professionals:

- In India, Essilor and an ophthalmology hospital are offering corrective lenses to disadvantaged individuals. At the end of 2007, four Mobile Refraction Vans equipped with devices to establish a visual diagnosis had already visited 500 villages, examined 45,000 people and filled out 23,000 prescriptions.

- In Mexico, Essilor and Ciba Vision signed a strategic alliance to support vision professionals

- Essilor partnered with the Helen Keller International Association to prevent low vision

Essilor and the Special Olympics are working together to equip athletes suffering from mental disabilities

- In France, Essilor has teamed up with the Vision Institute, a federation of vision professionals who develop a research space dedicated to eye pathologies

- In Canada, Essilor is working with the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council and the University of Montreal to create a research chair for presbyopia and visual perception.
